Questions we hear often

Why are you doing this?

Some of us studied social, arts or music studies and as a result, we wanted to create a space for new ideas, community support and social entrepreneurship that will deal with neighborhood’s needs in a practical way.

How are you helping?

We get together, we share our questions and stress, come up with ideas and figure out ways that will support the community. In an interesting way music, play and creativity, meet the social entrepreneurship.

Where do you get funds for this?

We have a small group of donors that support the costs of the place with 10-20 euros per month.
We are also running a small Social enterprise and are on a constant look for partnerships with Universities and foundations. Please check our donations page, to support specific projects.
If we had 10 euros every time we hear this question

When did you start?

Initially we started by making fun clips on youtube back in 2010, running flashmobs, and commenting on the Greek reality, then we started doing street projects in Syntagma Sq, workshops and finally street parties and playing football in the square. We’ve counted more than 30 projects in the past.

Who is behind Streetlights?

The projects and some of our events might look large, but the core team of volunteers is pretty small. (You are more than welcome by the way). We have no connection with political movements or organizations. We are getting thrilled of finding creative ways to deal with problems, we love spirituality & use entrepreneurial initiatives to focus on the community. Go figure.

Why so much “Spirituality”?

This word has been so abused. As a result, our team has agreed to follow democratic and nondogmatic christian principles & values, focusing on sacrificial giving, love for our neighbor, and solidarity against racism. We are working alongside all political and religious initiatives of the community, that prioritize respect and acceptance.

Our Values

TOGETHER

We can’t sustain the pressures of actvism by ourselves.
Same time, noone can celebrate alone.
So, we better stick together.

PERSISTENCE

The kids, the teens and our neighborhood,
need to see those who kept trying without giving up.
Let’s role model that, again & again.

ACCEPTANCE

Accepting everyone is the start
of getting to reach our communities.
The next crazy project, idea or solution could be
the person who just now walked inside.
Everyone is needed.

NOW

People and groups need our creative ideas and care,
now. No time for bureaucracy, or endless meetings.
